OK. I mentioned HERE (over two years ago...) that we NEED to remove all the "For-Profit" Contractors that are now embedded in our US army (courtesy of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfield, and the 'non-dynamic' Bush Duo (49 and 51).

But today's discussion is about the "Troop Surge" in Afghanistan. Why? Do we need it?

I say (quite often) that we are in the second decade of the Bush hundred years war.
If you see this point of view (starting with the FIRST gulf-war in 1990), you will see that we are not in a short term commitment. (In my personal opinion), It was NOT a smart decision by our past president to declare war in Iraq (and Afghanistan).

However, we absolutely need to start to transition and train local troops so they can take over for us.

Think of it this way.

We've Already Lost the Bush war in Iraq. Before we lose the Bush war in Afghanistan, we need to understand that Afghanistan and Pakistan share a very loose, non-patrolled border, and Pakistan is STILL a nucc-ulear power.

If we do NOT help to stabilize Afghanistan, the damage that has just STARTED in Pakistan will continue, and will lead to Pakistan becoming a failed state, just like Afghanistan, or Somalia.

This however, is not a good idea, since this might lead to unsecured warheads, in dangerous hands.

The background I believe that:
* We're HEADING into a DEPRESSION. We're (now) IN a depression!
* It's going to be as BAD as the last one.
* I call this Depression 2.0
* The current failures only bring us 25% into the problem!!
* According to Robert Reich (former Sec'y of Labor under Clinton): The only number that he EVER saw, defining the
depression was that the unemployment rate hovered around 25%.
* We need a new deal.
* After 58 years of NO Health Care Reform (since 1950!) it will FINALLY be coming soon...
* We've managed to WASTE a FULL generation (from Zero to thirty) with decaying social, educational, and interpersonal skills.
* Our nation is no longer DOING (producing) anything.
SO, from these few premises, I have extrapolated a great deal of items to FIX our society...

But....
We need to make sure that a number of issues are resolved ALL at once.
If we don't do them ALL at once, its like juggling three RUNNING chain saws, but dropping one!

Here's what I came up with:

We need to do the FOLLOWING to FIX our Society:
* Create A Living Wage
* Create a National Single payer Healthcare
* Create a National 3-4 year draft (or alternate service)
* Create a Federally paid Day Care starting at six months
* Implement Tax Reform on the ULTRA Rich
* Lobbying (Political Reform)
* Education
* Infrastructure (road /bridge/Systems repairs)
* Lack of Training/futures
* Truth and Reconcilliation Commission
* A new "Manhattan" project, focusing on Energy INDEPENDENCE

A Shame-OUT. We need the military to START re-training the men (PIGS) in the military. AP says:

Hezbollah fighters used Iranian-supplied technology to tap Israeli radio comms during last month's war in southern Lebanon. intelligence gleaned from these intercepts helped frustrate Israeli tank attacks, according to Hezbollah and Lebanese officials.

And they're PROUD of this I see!

"We were able to monitor Israeli communications, and we used this information to adjust our planning," a Hezbollah commander told Newsday.

Although Hezbollah was unable to intercept Israeli communications at will, it did gain intelligence that allowed it to co-ordinate counter-offensives against Israeli attacks.

a former Israeli general told Newsday that Hezbollah's signal intelligence capabilities seriously blunt the Israeli offensive. "Israel's military leaders clearly underestimated the enemy and this is just one example," he said.

"The Israelis did not realise that they were facing a guerrilla force with the capabilities of a regular army," a senior Lebanese security official told the magazine. "Hezbollah invested a lot of resources into eavesdropping and signals interception."

Hezbollah (whose ranks include a number of individuals fluent in Hebrew) also monitored cell phone transmissions during the conflict, a far less technically onerous task, though still far from trivial, according to the Lebanese government source. Troops are trained not to divulge sensitive information during mobile phone calls.

These particular claims are substantiated by reports of a raid by Israeli special forces on a Hezbollah office during the conflict which uncovered a cache of jamming and eavesdropping equipment, along with maps of Northern Israel and the mobile phone numbers of Israeli commanders.

HuMoR: Lyndon LaRouche -- Cult, Visionary, Fascist or Fool?

In the interest of staying relatively sane while
attempting to get my pool the color of a sparkling blue, I am going to examine an issue of very strategic importance to our country.

That is the transformation of the US Military into one that relies Heavily on companies such as Halliburton, and other "Private Military Companies" (PMC).


But first, we need to HONESTLY examine Mr. Lyndon LaRouche. I feel that I too would be marginalized and dismissed as simply a LaRouche-ite if I did not do this.

The wikipedia entry for Larouch starts off saying:

The LaRouche Movement is an international political and cultural movement which promotes Lyndon LaRouche and his ideas, including a number of conspiracy theories.

The organization includes interlocking think tanks, magazines and newspapers, national political organizations, a political action committee, and youth cadre.
Although the LaRouche movement is widely seen as a fringe political cult (or a cult of personality), the movement itself proclaims that Lyndon LaRouche is a central figure of international political and cultural importance, and that the movement is a necessary response to save the world from an ongoing and imminent global crisis. One critic has accused LaRouche of creating a cult of personality rivaling that of Joseph Stalin.

Why are we starting this discussion about the Military industrial complex, by discussing Lyndon LaRouche??

Quite simply, his "Executive Intelligence Review" for May 19th (last week) talks about the US military.

However he has his critics too. In a document HERE: (allegedly from B’nai B’rith
Anti-Defamation Commission Inc. of Australia / New Zealand, he is quoted as

believing in an impending world crisis engineered by an alleged cabal of
Jewish bankers based in Britain.

The "Grand Design for Humanity" is LaRouche's vision for saving
civilisation, which sees the creation of a dictatorship with LaRouche
at the helm, dedicated to the eradication of all facets of the
Oligarchy. LaRouche contends that popular support for this
dictatorship would only be forthcoming if he could prove that a
major crisis is looming, which could be solved with the rise of a new
charismatic and competent leader (i.e. LaRouche himself). The
impending crisis idea, as utilised by LaRouche propagandists,
usually takes the form of debtor countries reneging on their loans to
the International Monetary Fund (a supposed Oligarchy front),
thereby triggering a global depression.

Amongst a range of his "antisemitic canards" , LaRouche has claimed that The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion (the notorious Czarist forgery
depicting a plot by Jewry to take over the world) contains a “hard kernel of truth”.

I've gotta tell you...
Listening to this, this reminds me Way too much of "V for Vengence", the "comic" and then movie (Natalie Portman) that I said was an essential updating of George Orwell's 1984 See HERE for original discussion

What I said in a nutshell, is that the totalatarian state in "V" is way too close to 1984, and I could EASILY see this happening in AMERICA today.
However, thinking of LaRouche (and being Jewish) makes me afraid....
Afraid that if his kind of person/vision is accepted, then we are way to close to this depressing state.
