IT's NOT time to sit and ARGUE

We're in a Financial Crisis as bad (I believe) as the "Great Depression" (or as I call it now, the Second Depression)...

We are no longer in:

* An election cycle
* A presidential Election
* A period of ""loyal opposition"*
* A time when we can use the 'same old' arguments for/against 'growth' or big government.

The time to argue is OVER. We as Americans have not lived through the times that were prevalent in the first depression of the 1930's.

We can pray, and be grateful, that the head of the Federal Reserve Bank, Ben Bernanke, received his doctorate in studying the 'first (great) depression'.

If Bernanke had not studied the depression so much we would not be at 7.6 percent unemployment on 2/9/09, but we would already perhaps be at double that rate (15%).

I further my argument that now is not the time to play "partisan politics" (democratic or republican). I think that our new president is doing a spectacular job of attempting to be non-partisan, but am totally mystified at the reaction of the republican so called "loyal opposition" when they either say, "More tax cuts, or worse yet, "No more big spending".

Here's what I call the "real deal". (In my opinion), It's going to get much much worse. The economy will not be improving in the short term, or even within 18 months. It will (again in my opinion) get much, much worse.

* The Stock markets will not improve.
* The banks will need to start lending money to people and businesses, but won't until pushed.
* The jobless rate will continue to grow.
* The homeless rates (and foreclosure rate) will continue to skyrocket.

And my number one take-away from this situation:

It's going to require MASSIVE ** amounts of CA$H to pump into our country for us to get out of this second depression. It isn't pretty, it isn't documented (except if you carefully look into the way FDR got us out of the 'great' depression.)

And (as usual for me) *** I used the first depression, and took notes, and came up with a twelve point plan (that the current president has mostly agreed with) to get our country out of this mess.

* Loyal opposition? What happened to the Majority in Congress during the eight years of the 'failed presidency' of George W?

** Excuse the CAPS. I have been attempting to use less capitalized words (I see this as emPHASis), in my posts, but some are occasionally needed.

*** I have no problems admitting that my mind, while less "classically trained" (read: educated), functions faster, and better then some people with doctorates out there. Those with advanced training might disagree, and even violently disagree, but remember it's my blog, but I keep commenting totally open and anonymous comments ARE allowed.

PolicY: The Reconstruction Agency (draft) update: 10-16-07

This is a placeholder for my "Big" rebuilding program.

Since the year 2000 our country has been RAPED, Pillaged, Lied to and Destroyed by the current incumbent of the White House. This post is NOT designed to place blame, but to try and rebuild our society.

I propose that we need to institute a FAR REACHING recovery program to REPAIR our society.

Several global programs are involved, and I feel that Franklin Roosevelt's "New Deal" legislation is a good way to start.

Items would include:

1. Nationwide Health Insurance for ALL (finally!)
2. six month till three year old day care for all
3. National LIVING wage
4. Mandatory three year conscription/service (military/alternative) after 3 year grace period.
5. National Truth and Reconstruction Commission for crimes committed by REPUBLICANS and Political Donors
6. Campaign FINANCE reform: $100.00 via interenet period.
7. Nationwide "WPA" type reconstruction agency
8. "Service Acadamy" (West point type) for people wishing advanced degrees in
   
1. National MATH/Science training
2. Advanced/Accelerated Teaching program
3. Late life adult retraining institute

Essentially, my view is if you start with poverty, and work it backwards, it touches every single aspect of American life.

If we have a real living wage (we can no longer call it a minimum wage, because that's a farce!), then people will be able to support a family making this wage.

* I'd expect the base living wage to be around $15-18.00 an hour.
This also ties into the day care issue, as affordable day care (like they have in France) is a good start to getting our kids TRAINED to learn and LIKE learning.

* Next comes job training. Some will do the day care, in LOCAL, formal day care centers (which will have NO Television SETS at ALL!) Also will have formalized training programs, utilizing the service corp conscripts.

* After this is mandatory and full nationalized health care.
I'd like to propose a 15 year phase in of a single payer national mandatory plan, which will give the insurance companies time to transition.

** Alternative note, if we have a draft, and a 20 year reserve commitment, an alternative way to phase in full coverage is that all draft recruits receive full insurance, and it phases in as family benefit....

*Next is the Three year draft. UNPRIVATIZE the Cheney/Rumsfeld led "private military taxpayer fleecing act".
Army/Navy KP and laundry will be needed forever.

Three years because they WILL need to learn the high tech weapons too.
* The new military will have a mandatory reserve corp component for 20 years too. Once every year, just like the Israeli army.

There will need to be a 3-5 year phase in of the draft because the effect it will have on the universities and other associated industries.
* the conscientious objectors can go into the service corps, and serve the country instead.

* The new "Service Acadamy" (like West Point/Annapolis/Air Force/etc) will be used for training others

*and this leads to a good start to eliminate poverty, one of the reasons we have had this crisis in this country.

FDR and the WPA: A new deal for our country:

For some reason I cannot find anything I have previously written on the need to rebuild our country

Hey, I found it HERE and HERE: (on WNYC's discussion About John Dean 35 years after the fact...)

And I was the first caller on the segment with my Haiku:
(In case you're in the NSA and want my voice print as a baseline for the future torture I expect
in Jail when I become a OUTLAW for my DEMOCRATIC (and ANTI-PRESIDENTIAL views...)

{I'm not paranoid, but they're ALL OUT to get me!!!! heh heh!}

Impeach Cheney. Pelosi Pardons. Democracy returns.

If this were to happen (Pelosi becomes President), I predict the following would happen
OR at very least SHOULD happen!

1. Pelosi would grant George W. BUSH immunity from all US and international Charges (like against a trial by UN of WAR CRIMINAL!)
2. She would become the UNITY candidate for a four year term of president
3. She could introduce the following as a RECONSTRUCTION project for our country.
   

The reconstruction project would touch (and repulse MUCH of today's industry I might add!)
but would cover

• a) UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE (I like the fact under Hilary's Plan I can choose the government (congressional) plan!!
• b) UNIVERSAL Day Care from six months on at REASONABLE RATES
• c) A new, MINIMUM, LIVING (not minimum) wage-- around $15/hr to start!
• d) Equal Rights Amendment RATIFIED and put into law.
• e) A mandatory Post HS draft/Public Service.
  
• Either three years in Army, with a career and guaranteed college as an option if you re-enlist after three years. or
  
• Three years in service to the country. Are you a PC Person? work teaching PC's. Are you a carpenter? Build houses. etc. ALL over the country.
• f) A Truth and Reconciliation Commission for our country. (What a tragedy that we need it!)
• This commission would conduct FULLY disclosed hearings, and take testimony just like the ones in South Africa, and would AUTOMATICALLY pardon those who testify. NO TESTIFY??? CHARGE THEM!!!!!
  
• FIRST victim... DICK CHENEY (oops.. 1st person to testify!)
• g) Reconstruct the PRIVATE army.
  
• We need to re-make the United States Army. The three year recruits would not be as specialized as today UNLESS they commit for a longer period of time. This would allow the draftees (not a bad word!) to help restore services. IE, they WOULD have basic weapons training so that they can defend and help defend themselves .
• Firms such as Blackwater (private mercenaries) would be banned.

I am totally burned out but there is so much more. please feel free to comment and discuss here!
