shame-out: 'Pubs say "NO level of taxes is good"

SO  the republicans claim that there is NO number that would be acceptable as a balance.

IE: they were asked if a three to one (three dollar reduction in spending to a one dollar tax increase) would be acceptable they all said "NO".


Follow ups said that not even a 10 to one balance was acceptable.


PS:  It's time for the republicans to understand that it's the ECONOMY, STUPID, and
that the 8 months that they have OBSTRUCTED  congress and held up the budget, and the debt ceiling have NOT helped, but HURT our economy...

* We're HEADING into a DEPRESSION.
* It's going to be as BAD as the last one.
* According to Robert Reich (former Sec'y of Labor under Clinton): The only number that he EVER saw, defining the
depression was that the unemployment rate hovered around 25%.
* We need a new deal.
* After 58 years of NO Health Care Reform (since 1950!) it will FINALLY be coming soon...
* We've managed to WASTE a FULL generation (from Zero to thirty) with decaying social, educational, and interpersonal skills.
* Our nation is no longer DOING (producing) anything.
SO, from these few premises, I have extrapolated a great deal of items to FIX our society...

But....
We need to make sure that a number of issues are resolved ALL at once.
If we don't do them ALL at once, its like juggling three RUNNING chain saws, but dropping one!

Here's what I came up with:

We need to do the FOLLOWING to FIX our Society:
* Create A Living Wage
* Create a National Single payer Healthcare
* Create a National 3-4 year draft (or alternate service)
* Create a Federally paid Day Care starting at six months
* Implement Tax Reform on the ULTRA Rich
* Lobbying (Political Reform)
* Education
* Infrastructure (road /bridge/Systems repairs)
* Lack of Training/futures
* Truth and Reconcilliation Commission
* A new "Manhattan" project, focusing on Energy INDEPENDENCE

AP (Via ABC) reports that:

Sunbathers on a beach soaking up the rays, next to a pair of covered child corpses.

The beachgoers carried on Saturday as if nothing were amiss, ignoring that two children from the Roma [Gypsy]ethnic group had drowned, ostensibly before their eyes.

"We picked up the bodies amid total indifference," the ambulance driver who went to collect the bodies told the Italian newspaper..

People were eating lunch only a few feet away from the dead girls.

This incident comes as Italy has recently been criticized for its treatment of the Roma people, a population historically familiar with persecution (*). They are often referred to as Gypsies.

The Archbishop of Naples, Cardinal Crescenzo Sepe, warned on his blog that "to be indifferent should not be human," when told of the news.

The A.P. reports that our gent in the hot shirt; Daniel Allen Everett of Clarkston, Michigan was arrested when he went to visit his online love.

Unfortunately, that was apparently a meeting for sex with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
His bail Everett's was a bargain, set at ONLY $50,000.

Stupid iS™: 800-Flowers Whoops to customer!

Whoops!

ABC News reports a good one.

1-800-Flowers is being sued for $1 million for revealing that a man was cheating on his wife.

Personally I think that was WAY too small an amount to ask for. Damages should be tripled, and 1/2 given straight to wife, and 1/2 to current girlfriend!

Leroy Greer said in a lawsuit filed this week in a federal court in Texas that he bought flowers for his girlfriend through 1-800-Flowers. He asked to keep his purchase private.

The company referred him to their privacy policy, and said fine.
Problem?? Not at all! The lawsuit continues that 1-800-Flowers sent a thank-you note to his house and his wife saw it.

WHOOPS!

When [the wife] called the company, 1-800-Flowers faxed her a copy of the receipt from Greer's secret purchase.

The receipt revealed that Greer had sent another woman a dozen long-stemmed red roses, along with a note that read, "Just wanted to say that I love you and you mean the world to me!" according to court documents.

According to Greer's attorney Kennitra Foote, The couple was already going through what was described as an amicable divorce.

But, after learning of the affair, Greer's wife asked for a $300,000 divorce settlement in addition to child support, said

"That thank-you note is going to cost him money," Foote said.

Greer is asking for $1 million for breach of contract and deceptive trade practices.

"This is not a moral issue," said his Attorney; "The issue is, is 1-800-Flowers in the business of causing divorce or are they in the business of sending flowers and sticking to their privacy policy?"

I think they deserve to do child support for ALL of the kids!

She was SHIT-canned Friday, for undisclosed reasons. Well NOW we know the REASONS!

Ms Reagan, has one more similarity to the president she shares her name with.
Apparently,she has Alzheimers, and lost her entire memory, and started disparaging a specific ethnic group, claiming that a "Jewish cabal" against her in the book industry and stated that Jews "should know about ganging up, finding common enemies and telling the big lie."

Well Boys and Girls, we've BEEN down this road for the past 125 year, and it ain't the truth!

Hall of ShamE: Michael Crichton

OK. (Dr.) Michael Crichton (he's never practiced), and thus doesn't use the "dr." title
WAS always one of my favorite writers.

His first book (ok first successful book) was written while he was still in medical school, you may have heard of it; The Andromeda Strain (it also became a pretty good movie too)

He's averaged about one book ever other year. He's often covered some REALLY cutting edge topics (in Jurassic Park, he discussed DNA, Genetic engineering, as well as "reverse engineering" the dinosaur dna from the samples of amber he had.

In his sequel to Jurassic Park, he discussed (again, several years ahead of the headlines) Mad cow disease.

He's discussed lots of stuff over the years, but now I see he's written a minor character in one of his books using the name of someone who is a critic of his, and made that person a CHILD RAPIST.

I have just sworn off Michael Crichton forever. Not even rereading old novels (like I enjoy doing with my Isaac Asimov novels ever 5 years).
