TECH: firefox 3.05. Speedup with WINXP or (even *NIX)

OK. After having to google WHY my firefox was a terrible speed turtle, I found several answers:

Remember. The last SUPPORT date for Firefox 2.0.18 (last version) is YESTERDAY, so upgrade now...

ALL summarized HERE: (original source also cited.)

1a) ADVANCED users only!: disable your Phishing protection (it currently goes to Google for EVERY single website to check, and then writes in a local file in your profile!)

in FireFox select Tools/Options/Security: top third says
UNCHECK these two boxes:
Tell me if the site I'm visiting is a suspected attack site
Tell me if the site I'm visiting is a suspected forgery.

Next : Click OK, then Close Firefox.
If you're running Linux or Unix, just remove the file listed in 1d)

Now: open a command window:
1b) Start/Run/cmd
1c) at the black dos window type "cd \" (dont type quotes)
1d) dir " urlclassifier3.sqlite" /s
1e) when found, remove that file! (easier to do it using the 'my computer', then in dos window.
1f) close the command window.

We will be making a LOT of changes in step2,

I recommend opening the following site in a NEW window,

(right click, on link below and select open in new TAB), so you have it available for reference.

2) make changes into your firefox configuration as follows:(source)
2a) restart firefox.
2b) in address bar, type about:config then , click 'Yes, I'll be careful'
2c) after it starts you'll see a window SIMILAR to the following:

2d) type (or copy!) this into the filter bar " network.http.pipelining "
2e) Normally it says "false" under value field , Double click the line so it changes to become "true"
2f) In the filter bar again type network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
2g) Change the interger from the default of 4 to a number between 20 and 30
2h) In the filter bar again type network.http.proxy.pipelining
2I) Double click it so it changes from "false" to "true".
2J) In the filter bar again type network.dns.disableIPv6 (turn off IPV6)(make it true)
2K) Go to the filter bar again and type plugin.expose_full_path (
make it true)

Now we're going to Create new entries:
2L) Right click anywhere in the bottom part of the screen, Then type click -> New -> Integer
(You'll repeat this each time you create a new value for the next few steps...)
2M) For Preference name, type nglayout.initialpaint.delay copy and paste this...
2M.a) The value for this preference is zero (0).
2N) repeat step 2L to create another new preference (integer)
2O) Preference name: content.notify.backoffcount
2O.a) The value for this preference is five (5).
2P) repeat step 2L to create another new preference (integer)
2Q) Preference name: ui.submenuDelay
2Q.a) The value for this preference is zero (0).
2R) repeat step 2L to create another new preference (integer)
2S) Preference name: browser.cache.memory.capacity
2S.a) The value for this preference is 16384 (that's 16mb)--max ram used
