MidEasT: The Pope Vs. Islam (oy Vey)!

The POT calls the Kettle Black Department

Hoo. This is good. The head of the catholic church , say that Islam is a "Dirty, Fighting Religion, that converts people at the point of the sword." (Quotes are MINE, and is paraphrased there.)

This coming from the current Pope in Rome, who is currently occupying the chair that started:
  1. The Inquisition (no not the Monty PYTHON type, but the REAL type that killed LOTS of "dirty Jews" at the time.
  2. The Crusades, which was SUPPOSED to go and free Jerusalem from the "infidel" Muslims, but on the way to the mideast, managed to kill, maime, and destroy Hundreds of Thousands of Jews, who just happened to be in the way...
OK. So the Pot (Catholic Church) calls the Kettle (The Islamists) Black.

And the Kettles (Muslims) responds by saying:
The head of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Mahdi Akef, whose organization is one of the oldest, largest and most influential in the Arab world, said the pope "aroused the anger of the whole Islamic world and strengthened the argument of those who say that the West is hostile to everything Islamic."

The pope apologized, by saying

``The Holy Father is very sorry that some passages of his speech may have appeared offensive to Muslims and were interpreted in a way he hadn't intended them to be,'' Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said in a statement in Italian on the Web site. Statements from the pope generally come through the secretary of state or his spokesman.

His original comments quoted

" from a 14th-century dialogue between the Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus and an educated Persian.'' The two debate the merits of reason in Christianity and the Muslim concept of holy war. Manuel, who champions faith embedded in reason, is quoted as criticizing Islam with what Benedict called a startling brusqueness.''

Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,'' Benedict quoted the emperor as saying.

A spokesman said, that a careful reading of the pope's lecture would show that "what really matters to the Holy Father is a clear and radical rejection of religious motives for violence."
Mark Sez:

Essentially he called a spade a spade, not a digging implement. He quoted a king from the 1300's who said that Islam is spread by the sword. Not that the pope believed this. However, The reaction from theMuslim Brotherhood

Link to Islamic Responses here)

In a Totally Ironic (yet totally predictable twist, several "radical" Islamic groups proclaimed a Jihad against Catholics, as quoted in a news story HERE

Two armed Iraqi groups posted statements today on the Internet urging Muslims toward reprisal, though it was not clear if the threats took the Pope's most recent public expression of regret into account.

"Know that the soldiers of Mohammed will come sooner or later to shake your throne and the foundations of your state,'' said the group Asaeb al-Iraq al-Jihadiya (League of Jihadists in Iraq), which has in the past posted online video footage of attacks on American targets.

A hardline cleric linked to Somalia's powerful Islamist movement had called for Muslims to "hunt down'' and kill the Pope. It is feared his remarks encouraged the killers of Sister Leonella. Meanwhile an armed Iraqi group threatened to carry out attacks against Rome and the Vatican.

So (Mark again...)

The pope calls Islam a religion which expands by violence, converting people against their will by the sword, and the Islamists respond by saying, "soldiers of Mohammed will come sooner or later to shake your throne and the foundations of your state".

No that isn't IRONY

We are in the middle of a Jihad, UNFORTUNATELY Launched by the current PRESIDENT of the US.

Did he know what he was doing? No chance. Can he get us OUT of it? No chance.
