More on Republican "so called" Republican dirty trix

Interesting.

Right after last night's story that I posted about the Fed Worker that was found hanged in Kentucky, with the word "FED" on his chest, I found this delightful, yet esoteric article in the book review section of this week's NEW Yorker, discussing of all things, The Dreyfus affair (talk about ANCIENT history)

Yet, this article DOES matter. In it, Adam Gopnik makes a very interesting point.

First he introduces Louis Begley's new book, “Why the Dreyfus Affair Matters” (Yale; $24).
And then he cuts to the chase. Mr. Begley discusses the Dreyfus affair, and uses it as a metaphor for showing and warning us, as a "pointed warning and reminder of how fragile the standards of civilized conduct prove in moments of national panic."

Well. I am going to skip a great deal of Mr. Gopnik's article, discussing why it does matter, what happened, and why the USA (think Guantánamo Bay) has similar problems. You can read the article (even if you don't subscribe--use the link above!)

Gopnik makes a very astute point, which is as valid today (Rush Limbaugh and associates) as it was 100 years ago.

He says,
"The trouble was that, like most happy endings, the happy ending was not the end. The good guys won in a way that only made the bad guys worse.

As with Watergate, the immediate outcome of the affair gave a misleading impression of unanimity; in truth, while the good guys thought the other guys had absorbed it as a lesson, they had merely resented it as a defeat."
This reminds me SO SO much of the what I think of the disloyal opposition party, in their new scare tactics against Health care, so called Tea parties, and the birth certificate experience, that I cannot help but use my common sense, and create a new mental arithmetic for myself that shows that all these items add up to a new state of DENIAL for republicans in the USA.

Combine that with the fact that they are now the minority party, and that could easily mean that
we will have :

No health care reform
No meaningful anything in the next few years.

And again, as I have said all along, the republicans are the party of NO Health CARE reform.

Six times in sixty years, and now close to a seventh time killing it.

Let's bring back the fairness doctrine to the radio and television airwaves.
that would mean Fox News might actually live up to it's so called motto of "Fair and Balanced", instead of the right wing spin it puts on EVERYTHING.

Augh. (yes I know talk like a pirate day was LAST week!)

I told you SO Department

BYE BYE WaMu

With Apologies to (Charles Strouse Music / Lyrics by Lee Adams)

Bye-Bye WaMu
I'm gonna miss you so;
Bye Bye WaMu,
Why'd you have to go?
No more sunshine,
It's followed you away;
I'll cry WaMu,
I'll miss the way you smile,
As tho' it's just for me;
And each and ev'ry night,
I'll write you faithfully!
Bye Bye WaMu,
It's awful hard to bear;
Bye Bye WaMu
Think I'll always wonder,
Guess I'll always be scared,
Guess I'll never even care.

Arguh: Yet another SaraPalin Mess.

Go Away Sarah. You are making too many appearances in my blog!

ABC news reports that
Sarah Palin (has again), shifted her tactics for the second time in three weeks on the "Troopergate" investigation, this time calling to end the very investigation that she herself called for and the one the McCain campaign had said was the only proper venue for a probe.
The Alaskan Attorney General, who initially launched an internal probe into Palin, before the legislature began theirs, is now asking the legislators to withdraw their subpoenas of Palin aides and Palin's husband.

Despite her earlier vows of full cooperation with the (leglislature's) probe, she declared it unlawful. The legislature lacked the authority to investigate the matter, she said. Instead, it should be handled by the state personnel board, Palin asserted -- a panel which is under her authority.
Gee. If it SMELLS like a RAT
and it Feels Like a Rat,
and it LOOKS like a RAT

There's a pretty good chance it's a RAT in front of you!!!

Go away Sarah. Go Far Far Away, and slink your way back to Alaska.

OK, you wanted a Political discussion: Here goes.

The background I believe that:
* We're HEADING into a DEPRESSION.
* It's going to be as BAD as the last one.
* The current failures only bring us 25% into the problem!!
* According to Robert Reich (former Sec'y of Labor under Clinton): The only number that he EVER saw, defining the
depression was that the unemployment rate hovered around 25%.
* We need a new deal.
* After 58 years of NO Health Care Reform (since 1950!) it will FINALLY be coming soon...
* We've managed to WASTE a FULL generation (from Zero to thirty) with decaying social, educational, and interpersonal skills.
* Our nation is no longer DOING (producing) anything.
SO, from these few premises, I have extrapolated a great deal of items to FIX our society...

But....
We need to make sure that a number of issues are resolved ALL at once.
If we don't do them ALL at once, its like juggling three RUNNING chain saws, but dropping one!

Here's what I came up with:

We need to do the FOLLOWING to FIX our Society:
* Create A Living Wage
* Create a National Single payer Healthcare
* Create a National 3-4 year draft (or alternate service)
* Create a Federally paid Day Care starting at six months
* Implement Tax Reform on the ULTRA Rich
* Lobbying (Political Reform)
* Education
* Infrastructure (road /bridge/Systems repairs)
* Lack of Training/futures
* Truth and Reconcilliation Commission
* A new "Manhattan" project, focusing on Energy INDEPENDENCE

Dereliction of Duty: Treason Continued

Dereliction of duty

According to Reference.com,
Dereliction of duty
Dereliction of duty is a specific offense in military law. It includes various elements centered around the avoidance of any duty which may be properly expected.

In the U.S. Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), dereliction of duty is addressed within the regulations governing the failure to obey an order or regulation.

It means that one willfully, through negligence or culpable inefficiency, fails to perform one's expected duties. (Added EMPHASIS:)

Ineptitude is a defense against the charge.

Well I'm on board for that.

We can't impeach the President, but we can charge him with DERELICTION OF DUTY, he can plead guilty by reason of ineptness, and we can all move onThe maximum penalty in the U.S. is
  1. a bad-conduct discharge
  2. forfeiture of pay
  3. and six months confinement

Let's GO FOR it. Prosecute for Dereliction of DUTY!

Debate: Treason: True or False?

OK. The web makes us lazy. Dictionary.com reports the following meanings for the word TREASON.

trea·son
–noun
  1. the offense of acting to overthrow one's government or to harm or kill its sovereign.
  2. a violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or to one's state.
  3. the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery.
1. Treason, sedition mean disloyalty or treachery to one's country or its government.
  1. Treason is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair the well-being of a state to which one owes allegiance;
  2. the crime of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of one's government.
Reference.com's encyclopedia entry for Treason shows:

Treason, legal term for various acts of disloyalty.

(source):
The English law, first clearly stated in the Statute of Treasons (1350),
originally distinguished high treason from petit (or petty) treason. aka High Treason.

Petit treason was the murder of one's lawful superior, e.g., murder of his master by an apprentice. In the 1800's, English law was reformed; petit treason was abolished, and cruel methods of executing traitors were forbidden

High treason constituted a serious threat to the stability or continuity of the state.
  1. It included attempts to kill the king, the queen, or the heir apparent or to restrain their liberty;
  2. to counterfeit coinage or the royal seal;
  3. and to wage war against the kingdom.
Treason is specifically defined in the U.S. Constitution:
Article 3 of the Constitution thus provides that treason shall consist only in levying war against the United States or in giving aid and comfort to its enemies and that conviction may be had only on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act or on confession in open court.
Status in USA:
There have been fewer than 40 federal prosecutions for treason and even fewer convictions.

Proposed:

Based on The new Bob Woodward book, The War Within: A White House divided
In an interview on NPR with Terry Gross, Bob Woodward discusses his fourth book on the Bush 43 Presidency. Listen to the interview HERE:
Woodward states quite clearly, based on personal interviews with the president, that "In key moments, the president was not there at the meetings where [administration members] were confronting the reality that they had a strategy that was not working.”
Hmm. Maybe it's NOT Treason after all. Perhaps "Dereliction of Duty" fits better. Or, perhaps, simply "criminally stupid"?

Shame-OUT: Alberto won't walk away...He just SLINKS away

Owwwwwwwwwwww.

I thought now that Alberto Gonzales has been gone from our lives for almost a year and a half I'd have nothing else to say about that lackluster, legal lackey.

Yeah, it looks like the ALBERTO man has no ethics, and no B R A I N S either.

Maybe he just forgot that he was the TOP lawman in the country --- Higher then even J. Edgar Hoover was in his cross-dressing life.

Yeah. That's the ticket. He just plain FORGOT he was in charge.

Just like he FORGOT the combination to his SAFE as the Attorney-General of the UNITED STATES.

Now remember I've worked in Computer Security for almost 20 years, and am a VERY big supporter of Individual passwords...

(Digression:)
That means if you have two email accounts (say gmail and yahoo),
you would NEVER ever EVER use the SAME password for both, in case ONE of them got compromised!

(end digression)

BUT ... THIS BOZO forgot the password to his OWN SAFE!!!!!

(another digression)

In my professional life, I never gave the password out to different systems. However, in case I was hit by a truck, the manager was given a double sealed Envelope.
Inside the First envelope was a envelope saying. Master Password list for XYZ system
do not open unless an emergency.
The outside envelope was simply a handwritten message, saying "From Mark"
(and ideally, that envelope would go in Manager's Safe (or in this case Manager's Secretary's Safe!)
to quote Bugs Bunny, "What a Maroon"

But ABC/AP reports (oh, my head hurts again!)

Internal DOJ Report Found AG Had a Safe, Forgot Combination

The inspector general's investigation found that despite the highly sensitive nature of the National Security Agency program, which has been shrouded in secrecy for years, Gonzales not only failed to keep notes and documents related to it in proper safes, but he also kept top secret classified notes about the program unsecured at his house.

"Our investigation found that Gonzales mishandled classified materials while serving as attorney general," the report from Justice Department Inspector General Glenn Fine noted. "The evidence shows that he took [Top Secret]/[Sensitive Compartmentalized Information] notes about the NSA surveillance program to his residence and improperly stored them in a briefcase there for an indeterminate period of time."

OW... The pain of it... Poor (dead/buried/gay/anti-gay) J. Edgar Hoover must be rolling over in his grave....

I can't go on. Read about the indignities the chief lawyer of our country
performed as he mis-handled the {CLASSIFIED} papers he was using to misHANDLE the laws and duties of OUR COUNTRY..

I want a TREASON investigation!

DO you?

TORTURE=TREASON
